Leochip VLS is ideal for use on low traffic surfaces where a high level of finish is required, including driveways, footpaths, towpaths and decorative areas. Prior to use, all surfaces must be clean and free from water, dust, dirt, loose material and oil spillage.
Leochip VLS comes in 25kg and 200kg containers, and is best applied could poured and spread with a notched rubber squeegee (pre-cut ‘tiger’ teeth are ideal).
VLS spreads at a rate of 1.3 to 1.8ltrs/sqm (at temperatures exceeding 10°C for at least 12 hours after application), this is dependant on the texture and porosity of the surface and the size of stone/chipping used (2.8/6.3 Gc 85/20f1 chippings are recommended), though not all aggregates are suitable to use with a bitumen emulsion.
For more porous surfaces we would always recommend using a base coat of Leotak, VLS initially works in a similar way to Leotak, soaking into the ground to create a ‘tacky’ surface which can take a lot of VLS to achieve, using Leotak achieves the same base with a better spread rate at a lower cost, creating a strong bond coat to then pour your VLS and chippings on to.

Drums should be stored away from frost and rolled often to avoid separation and ensure a smooth emulsion. For further information please refer to BS434: Part 2: 2006 Section 5; Clause 5.2 Storage.
