Save the Children – Christmas Jumper Day
Every year Resapol run an internal Christmas Jumper Competition in order to crown the best Christmas Jumper picture! Each Resapol department is invited to take part and to submit a Christmas themed picture featuring an eclectic mix of Christmas jumpers. The winning department typically receives a lunch voucher for their respective team, and the admiration (and jealousy!) of every other Resapol member of staff.
Keeping in line with the Christmas spirit, this year Resapol also decided join the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day initiative, in which a donation of £2 is made by anyone wanting to wear a suitable Christmas jumper, joining together with 3 million people within the UK who also took part in this fun and worthy cause.
Save the Children are a UK based charity that look to lead the way on tackling problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. They find new ways to reach children who need them the most, no matter where they’re growing up.
For a century, Save the Children have stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard; giving the most vulnerable children across the world the means to help them become who they want to be.
Last year’s winning entry came directly from the Resapol Leigh depot for their creative take on the classic Christmas nativity scene – the entire team was justly rewarded with a lunch on Resapol.
Resapol had a record number of entries and, as a result, managed to raise a total of £70 for Save the Children! However, a further surprise came as the winning team announced their intention to take a light lunch and to donate their surplus winnings (an additional £45!) to this great cause, bringing the overall donations to £125.
We would like to say a final big thank-you to everyone who took part in this year’s Resapol Christmas Jumper Competition – we once again had a lot of creative and unique entries. An extra special thank-you to the Resapol Leigh depot for their additional donation; we already can’t wait until the next competition rolls around!
