Ramsbottom Pantry based in Ramsbottom Lancashire opened their doors in October 2020, providing free food packs and non-food items to those who are in need. Originally working from inside the Church they were recently gifted a porta cabin and storage unit to work from, both situated on the car park at the back of Christ Church. The Pantry has gone from strength to strength since with more volunteers helping on the Tuesday and Thursday Sessions. The Pantry is run completely by volunteers, helping those families in need in the Ramsbottom area; they work all year round in order to be the arms that reach out to the community directly, helping those that need it the most.
Resapol were the sponsors of their recent open day. Supplying all the food and hot beverages for the event. Carol Phillips, one of the volunteers, made 35 Afternoon Teas which were very well received, along with Lloyd Phillips who was photographer for the day. The afternoon was a complete success, along with food donations given on the day they also received £167 in cash donations which will go straight back into buying fresh, frozen and other stock to refill the shelves.
The Open Day brought together members of Christ Church, Ramsbottom Rotary, The Volunteers and of course some of the families that are regularly helped. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to so many people and has truly highlighted how anybody can be suddenly in need of emergency food. When a crisis hits the Ramsbottom Pantry aims to help bridge the gap and offer help and support to those that need it.
Whether you have been furloughed, had your hours reduced, lost your job or business, waiting on any financial help or had unexpected expenses, Ramsbottom Pantry is there to help! Families can come down and choose what they need and they also offer delivery service for those who find it hard to leave the house.
