The Resapol Foundation is incredibly pleased to donate £1000 to Solent Mind, the Resapol Southampton depot’s nominated charity for 2024. Solent Mind, an independent registered charity, tailors trusted mental health services to the local communities in the Hampshire area. Their mission is to make sure that anyone in the community experiencing a mental health issue has somewhere to turn to for advice, information and support.
Southampton Ambassador Barney Wotman explained why they decided to nominate Solent Mind:
“Resapol Southampton have chosen Solent Mind as their charity because each of us have experienced at least once in our life someone very close or known to us who we have lost to a battle Mental Health and are currently experiencing, or have experienced battles with mental health. What Solent Mind do for people is extraordinary and they have helped so many people, past and present, and will keep helping people in the future of all ages.”
The independent registered charity provides many different types of support through their team including projects for children, those living with dementia and families of service personnel. Any unrestricted funds received by Solent Mind, such as the Resapol Foundations donation, go towards supporting mental health projects across the region. Recently this has included a digital skills project at Mayfield Garden Centre to reduce isolation and enable people to feel confident online and an EDI project working with asylum seekers in Southampton and the Asian community in Portsmouth.
“We are always grateful for donations and would like to thank Barney for nominating us to be the recipient of the £1000 contribution. These donations help to fill funding gaps in our services and provide additional support and mental health services to our community. This has recently included our digital skills and EDI projects.”
