This webercem spray DS is a pre-bagged, ready-to-use, polymer-modified, cement-based structural concrete. It contains graded inert limestone aggregates and dust suppressants.
The formulation has been designed specially for dry process spray application to give high strength, low rebound and wastage, and to maximise the application thickness. Conformity testing to BS EN 1504-3 has confirmed that webercem spray DS meets the requirements for a Class R4 repair product. It is specifically for use within the construction and civil engineering sector.
The product is supplied in 25kg paper sacks that are poly lined.
This product should be applied with a dry process spraying machine. Contents of sacks should be emptied directly into the hopper of the spraying machine and operators should control the application of water added at the spray nozzle. The appearance of the sprayed concrete will be an indicator of the amount of water required. It is essential to avoid a glossy look on the surface of all sprayed concrete.
The coverage supplied by one 25kg bag is approximately 11.5 litres, however this varies depending on the amount of rebound and profiling.
Before applying this product to concrete, the substrate should be cleaned and all oil or grease removed using detergents. The substrate should be prepared using mechanical methods, such as scabbling, water jetting or grit blasting. This provides a clean and exposed surface suitable for applying the product. When applying to other surfaces, take care to read all the manufacturer instructions prior to application.
When profiling or trowelling is required after application this should be carried out immediately.
After application, this product should be cured properly to achieve maximum strength and performance. Use a curing membrane if the surface is not being overcoated. Refer to the manufacturer guidelines if uncertain.
The recommended minimum application thickness for this product is 25mm, although it can be applied down to 15mm. When protecting over steel the recommended minimum application thickness is 40mm.
The compressive strength of webercem spray DS meets Class R4 standards.
It is suitable for the following uses:
- Repairs to large areas of structural concrete.
- Repairs of highway structures: bridge columns, piers, deck soffits, beams, abutments, parapets, retaining walls, tunnels and viaducts.
- Repairs of marine structures: jetties, piers, quays, seawalls, concrete offshore platforms, docks and drydocks.
- Repairs of fire damaged concrete structures.
- Sealing of mine roadways and tunnels.
- Structural enhancement of mineshafts.
- Structural encasement of steel sections, pylons, chimneys, cooling towers.
- Rock and embankment stabilisation.
This product consists of a mix of Portland grey cement. It can be irritating to the skin, cause breathing problems when inhaled and can also cause eye damage. Personal protection equipment should be used when applying this product, including goggles, gloves and protective work gear.
webercem spray DS should be stored in a dry place, unopened at temperatures that do not go below 5 degrees C. If manufacturer storage instructions are followed, the product has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture.
